Agreements announced Tuesday with 10 grain handling companies allow the West’s wheat, durum and barley growers to deliver to CWB through any grain elevator on the Prairies.
Tuesday’s announcement includes agreements with Parrish and Heimbecker (P+H), Paterson Grain, Weyburn Inland Terminal (WIT), Prairie West Terminal (PWT), Providence Grain Group, Great Sandhills Terminal (GST), North West Terminal (NWT), Lethbridge Inland Terminal, Westlock Terminal and Great Northern Grain.
CWB, which until last week was the Canadian Wheat Board, the single-desk handler for Prairie wheat and barley, also announced a deal Tuesday that will grant it access to port terminal handling through Alliance Grain Terminal, the Vancouver port space co-owned by Paterson, P+H, GST, PWT, NWT and WIT.

Sited on the south shore of Burrard Inlet with capacity for 102,000 tonnes of grain, AGT is one of the Port of Vancouver’s five crop export terminals.
"We now have the necessary business arrangements in place to operate in the new grain-marketing environment," CWB CEO Ian White said in Tuesday’s release.
Farmers, he added, will be "the most important part of our confidence and future success. Their support is crucial, and we have every indication that they see a strong role for CWB in their business plans."
Winnipeg-based Paterson, for one, said its handling deal with CWB is expected to allow farmers to tailor contract choices "to meet their specific marketing and risk management needs."
"This alliance will enable Paterson to provide increased service and a wide variety of options to the producers that we serve across Western Canada," CEO Andrew Paterson said in a separate release.
Viterra, Cargill, Richardson Pioneer, Louis Dreyfus, Mission Terminal, West Central Road and Rail, South West Terminal, Delmar Commodities, Linear Grain and Agro Source have all announced their own handling deals with CWB in recent months.
CWB on Tuesday cited recent surveys, meetings and discussions with farmers in which most said they plan to contract "all or part" of their crop to CWB pools.
